| We offer you a glimpse into the inner creative
process. Three themes: Beginning, Facing the Obstacles and Celebration.
They are depicted here to represent the paths we have taken in the journey
towards authenticity. They contain our tears, our laughter, and our learnings.
The exhibit reveals the inner workings of the
artist and the final creation, it illuminates the transformative process
of making art. The artists work is organized around the three stages of
the creative process: Beginning, Facing the Obstacles, and Celebration.
Though all art making involves all three stages, each piece selected highlights
one aspect of the process.
Making art provides access to our inner world
where personal images and symbols emerge from deep within. Seeing our creative
expressions as metaphors for our lives, we illuminate our inner truths and
guide us towards wholeness and integrity - a continuous practice. With every
choice we make, we can recreate our lives. We keep alive a deep sources
of joy through self-expression. Art work is a symbol for this larger process,
the divine creation of which we are all a part.
We the artists are recent graduates, current
students and faculty of the New England Art Therapy Institute. As artists
and writers we have diverse backgrounds. Some of us are professionally trained,
others are self-taught. What we share is that we have all have been transformed
by the process of making art that reflects our own unique truths.
As you view the art and text, we invite you to reflect upon your
own journey towards authenticity. We offer this exhibit both to celebrate
and to connect with others who walk this path. |
